Costa Rica was a remarkable trip with invigorating yoga, amazing scenery, good friends, and time away from
the bustle of everyday life. Thanks to everyone who came for making our community so wonderful, and the experience so
enjoyable.

The Place
Samasati Nature Retreat, an eco retreat center, is located 130 miles south of San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica and 30
miles South of Puerto Limon on the Caribbean coast. At 650 feet elevation, the climate is cool even on hot days. Situated
on 250 acres of virgin tropical rain forest overlooking the Caribbean Sea, the retreat offers the opportunity to trek
deep in the jungle, and to come upon streams, pools and water falls. The primary and secondary rain forest is natural habitat
to hundreds of species of birds, butter flies, monkeys, iguanas and jaguars. While there will be plenty of time to rest on
the beautiful sandy beaches the surrounding sea is abundant with wild life. Dolphins and sea turtles swim to the shores and
the colorful coral reefs provide exceptional snorkeling opportunities. Samasati is the ideal place for a week for deepening
your yoga practice, rest, rejuvenation and contemplation of the beauty that surrounds you. www.samasati.com
The Retreat
We practiced yoga twice a day; once in the early morning, and again in the early evening. In the first session we began
with meditation and then entered a strong yang flow. In the second session we moved more slowly incorporating yin and restorative
poses in order to cool down from our days adventures. There was plenty of time during the day for swimming, jungle
trips, and snorkel in the ocean.
